From 1st of February prices for entrance fees at archaeological sites and national parks in the state of Yucatan will be increased significantly. Listen to this blog-post on our Daily Travel Tips Podcast (6 minutes).
There was already a slight price increase of MXN 5.00 pesos at the beginning of this year. That is not that much, we're talking about roughly USD 0.30 cents or around € 0.25 cents, which is not that much. This was announced on the 1st of January almost nobody realized.
From the 1st of February 2019 the Yucatan government decided to increase the prices for their archaeological sites and parks significantly.
Entrance fees will almost be double the amount for archaeological sites and parks like Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Grutas de Loltun, Balankanche, Celestun, Izamal and Ek Balam, just to name the most popular ones.
I believe this is totally in the normal rice prange compared to other prices of sightseeing attractions worldwide. These are still fair prices plus such a price increase is only taking place at the Yucatan state and not in the entire Yucatan peninsula. When talking about the state of Quintana Roo, where famous ruins like Tulum, Coba and Muyil are are located, the price increase was only, as earlier mentioned by MXN 5.00 pesos. If you have any questions about the new prices, just comment below this post and we are happy to answer them.
